Una interesante combinación de vieja y nueva escuela, de gusto clásico y tendencias actuales que dan un resultado que es muy efectivo en precio y en desempeño potencial al parecer.

NAD C 388, C 368 And C 338 Have Hybrid Amplification And Bluetooth

NAD's C 338 ($649) is a compact stereo amp that produces 150 Watts per channel (350W Dynamic @ 4 Ohms) while the C 368 stereo amp offers 80 Watts per channel (240W Dynamic @ 4 Ohms). Wireless network and streaming audio are fully supported by Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. The C 368 ($899) and C 388 ($1599 ) are future proof Hybrid Digital DAC Amplifiers that are as intelligent as they are powerful. A modular design construction ensures these are future ready for feature upgrades. BluOS Wireless Multi-room Audio is one feature that handles Hi-Res Audio option for streaming music. The C 388 and C 368 have inputs including MM Phono, Stereo Line, Optical Digital and Coax Digtal. NAD Adds Component-CD Player

NAD’s $299-suggested C 516BEE CD player plays MP3/WMA data CDs.

Pickering, Ontario — NAD Electronics shipped its latest high-performance component CD player for the home.

Like the model it replaces, the $299-suggested C 516BEE offers 24-bit-192kHz DACs, playback of MP3/WMA data CD-R discs for up to 10 hours of continuous playback, coaxial and optical digital outputs, and audio-specific OP amps.

The DACs in the new model, however, are from Cirrus Logic and are said to provide more accurate dynamics and lower distortion than those in the CD player’s predecessor.

The component is targeted to music lovers who “still have collections of hundreds or even thousands of CDs,” said Greg Stidsen, technology and product planning director. “So there is still a need for a high-performance CD player,” especially for audiophiles who are cost-conscious, he said.

Aun sigo considerando esta marca algo sobre preciada, sin embargo la manufactura y diseño de los equipos exhibe un nivel muy bueno.

By way of another comparison I listened to the same material through the onboard DAC of the i3.3 via the CD3.3 transport and S/PDIF, as well via a USB input from my Mac. It’s close, but the CD3.3 with the higher-spec Burr-Brown DAC is the hands-down winner. On a track like Jen Chapin’s “Renewable” from ReVisions [Chesky] the sound via the i3.3 DAC is a little glassier and loses some of the organic warmth and dimensionality of the standalone CD3.3. The space and the air flowing over the reed of the baritone sax is not quite as silken, its texture a bit coarser. USB was a similar story—highly listenable but spatially there was just a bit less elbowroom.

When a company is on a roll as Simaudio has been, it might seem that nothing can slow it down. Like the line goes, nothing succeeds like success. But that’s not entirely true—complacency kills. And failure to read the market is equally deadly. So kudos to the smart cookies at Simaudio for listening at every level. For listening to the iTunes junkie, listening to the server-surfer, or just the pure-analog Old Guard like me. The Moon i3.3 and CD3.3 have what it takes to make audiophiles of us all.

¿ Por qué me llama la atención el Bryston BCD-1 ?

Hace tiempo un conocido de buena formación técnica y gustos algo pre definidos recomendó este CD de la firma canadiense Bryston a una persona en búsqueda de una buena fuente digital. Reconozco que  desdeñé tal sugerencia por experiencias previas con Bryston, experiencias claro que solo abarcan mi persona y particular gusto. Tratando de averiguar más sobre este equipo en una especie de actitud anti prejuicios me encontré con un CD de aspecto muy sencillo por dentro y fuera, buenos numeros (Bryston normalmente los ofrece), un transporte seguramente Philips L-1210 y un transformador Plitron, y un circuito muy depurado y diferencial/balanceado. Con todo y lo anterior juzgado desde la perspectiva costo/beneficio aun así su precio me parece algo elevado a juzgar por sus elementos interiores y sin embargo he de decir que me llama aun así la atención por un detalle particular y creo que mucho de su buen sonido segpún refieren algunos no depende de otra cosa si no de su salida discreta clase A. Así que este factor da pie a que le siga de cerca y conozca más sobre este CD, que no veo para mi pero creo que es una opción más para quien guste de la marca, busque un solido CD y persiga los beneficios de la clase A.
