DSP-Signalprocessor, programmable, updateable, controlls the signal processing individually for CD and SACD.
New High-End-mechanism with metal-loader, steel pushrods, metal shielding, antiresonanz cabinet and decoupling.
Stereo-Quadrupel-High-End-D/A-converter and State-of-the-Art-Analogue output stage with total galvanic separation.
Signal board with radial network and overall signal distribution.
High performance mains power supplies with vast current delivery for analogue and digital sections.
Consistent two-channel sound
The SACD 1250 R is a pure-bred two-channel player which we have developed for the purpose of obtaining the highest-quality stereo reproduction from CD and SACD. The T+A philosophy of audio playback is unique: each music format has its own independent signal processing section with clock and data resynchronisation for jitter reduction. This process was developed ten years ago by T+A, and synchronises the converter’s clock signals perfectly with those of the disc mechanism. There are even different oscillators for CD and SACD.
No-compromise design
A crucial factor in the superb overall results of our players is the thorough, ingenious overall design and construction of all the individual sub-assemblies. Signal paths are extremely short, minimising interference influences and cable losses. The mains power supplies for the digital and analogue sections are strictly separated in order to avoid any induced interference between them. Both sections are extremely stable under load, and the analogue power supply is even based on a toroidal transformer. Each stage of the power supply features multiple stabilising measures, and all sub-assemblies are separately encapsulated and shielded.
Bandwidth switching
SACD discs deliver a much higher bandwidth, and this can cause severe problems with amplifiers of moderate quality. One solution for us would have been to limit the frequency response of the player to the lowest common denominator, in order to cope with amplifiers of modest quality, and this would certainly have been the safe route. However, we were not content with this, so we decided to equip the SACD 1250 R with a pure analogue output filter whose bandwidth can be switched between 60 kHz and 120 kHz. By this means it is possible to set up the player to match any amplifier very accurately, and there is no need to forfeit anything in terms of frequency response and phase linearity where a good, wide-bandwidth amplifier is used.
The converter
The SACD 1250 R is a thoroughbred two-channel CD / SACD player, i.e. it is designed and built specifically for purist fans of stereo reproduction, and contains absolutely no video components. Its counterpart, of identical construction, is the SADV 1250 R HD: this is a six-channel (multi-channel) player capable of reproducing top-quality two-channel audio as well as multi-channel audio from CD and SACD.
A common feature of these two superb players is the unique and extremely sophisticated D/A converter board / analogue board. Burr-Brown D/A converters are acknowledged as the best in the field, and no fewer than eight carefully selected units are used in each machine, although they are used in different ways in the SACD 1250 R and SADV 1250 R HD.
In the SACD 1250 R four of these converters are used for each channel in the form of our T+A quadruple converters, a further enhancement of the differential converter, which has been considered the last word in circuit design until now. The ground-breaking quadruple converter allows the machine to achieve values for total harmonic distortion, signal : noise ratio and dynamics which are genuinely extraordinary. The outstanding test results from all over the world concerning these players’ predecessors - and the D 10 player, which features the same technology - are sample proof of the superiority of this unique design philosophy in terms of sound quality.
A programmable 56-bit signal processor is employed to provide faultless digital control of the converter units, and this, in conjunction with the superior T+A oversampling algorithms, ensures that the player is able to exploit the full performance potential of the D/A converters. The listener can choose between no fewer than four selectable mathematical processes for the eight-times oversampling: from the conventional FIR (highly linear frequency response) to T+A Bezier polynomial interpolation with its unexcelled timing precision; the latter sounding extraordinarily authentic and “analogue” in character. These two sections are strictly separated galvanically by the latest iCouplers and opto-couplers, to prevent any danger of the digital section influencing the audiophile analogue section.
State-of-the-Art analog output stage with switchable filters
4 Stereo D/A-converters
Opto-couplers and iCouplers separate the analog section strictly from the digital section

Me da mucho gusto.
Tomado de www.audiocircle.com
seriousjazz:
It's my first post here. Klaus told me about Audiocircle, and I met a few members in his room. I am very glad that I made the trip from SF. I wanted to check out the Belles amps and the Salk and Emerald Physics speakers. They all are very good. excellent, actually. And then I made the mistake of walking into the Odyssey room. Yes, I have read about Odyssey but always dismissed them because of the low prices. Big mistake as it turns out.
Klaus is showing his new Kismet line. Let me explain it this way, I am buying the complete Kismet system, loudspeakers, mono amps ( actually 5 of them), Candela preamp, which will be upgraded to the Kismet preamp next year, and the Kismet phono stage. What I have heard in the Odyssey room was unbelievable. The musicality, the amount of effortless and layered soundstaging, the voicing, dynamics, every part of the performance had me drooling. The woodworking on the cabinets are beautiful, and the machining of the Kismet electronics are out of this world. Klaus showed a case disassembled, and I would eagerly pay $ 2000 for a case alone. UNBELIEVABLE. But a case does not make music, and the Odyssey room was on the very top of my list for best sound. Easily on the top of the list, besting systems for $ 100.000 and more. Ultimately the one product that I am impressed with the most is the Kismet phono preamp. Looks of a $ 10,000 unit and a sound that is soooooo good.
I know that many others feel the same. Outside the Odyssey room I overheard two magazine reviewers exiting the room. They could not believe what they heard. I spent two hours in the Odyssey room and a vast majority of the people coming in for a listening were godsmacked. My brother in law came with me and he was not really looking to buy anything. More a boys out of town trip for him. He loves music and plays Saxophone, but not a real audiophile. in the end he also bought a system, Loreleis, Stratos stereo amplifier and the Candela. I know that Klaus is doing serious business at the show. A couple sat with us for some time and they ended up getting the complete Kismet system as well. Imagine this we had to wait for them to sign up before we could order. In his folder I saw the order sheets. Klaus had over 20 orders already. On Saturday afternoon with Sunday still to come. His system is that exceptional.
I don't think that it is a secret here on Audiocircle that Klaus is a great guy. He is funny, no bull whatsoever. He is a huge guy with a personality to match. We had some drinks and we enjoyed his company. We had drinks, he had coffee.
Everybody out there, check out the Kismet. In my 35 years in this hobby I have never been this impressed.
Thank you, Nicolas
martinr:
IMHO the sound of the Odyssey room at RMAF bested many of those with systems costing thousands of dollars more...
I took one picture of the Kismet amps and speakers:
Hope you can see the picture - Nice meeting you Nicolas - congratulations on your purchase! I am constantly amazed at how well the Loreleis Image....
I discussed the glass ceiling upgrade option for my stratos monos se's with Klaus at RMAF. I explained that I had done no room conditioning as of yet and I felt that should be my next step before I spend more $$ on electronics. He agreed with me and suggested I put a couple of artificial plants behind my Lorelei's -
I have them 24" from the back wall with a big screen TV is between them (not the best configuration) -
So my wife and I bought some plants with straw/bamboo stalks behind them (stalks are about 5' high) and placed them behind the loreleis- OMG what a great upgrade - the loreleis image better than ever before, I could hear the music come into better focus as my wife placed the plants behind the speakers...
Klaus is a wonderful person, I'm a customer for life also.
aa

2gumby2:
Yep, the Kismet speakers absolutely crushed speakers costing thousands more and I was one of the ones that ordered a pair on Saturday at RMAF. I had absolutely no intention of purchasing any commercially available speakers as I enjoy building my own (using other's designs), but the Kismets were impressive enough that I don't think I could do better. I sure hope thay sound as good as they did at RMAF in my listening room.

(Escéptico) Martin Colloms y el PS Power Plant Premier
http://www.psaudio.com/newsletters/8-08.asp
Martin Colloms on the Premier
OK, so you cannot have been involved with high-end audio and not be familiar with the name Martin Colloms. Is it even possible? Martin Colloms is regularly referred to and referenced by the major American and world publications. Martin is the author of thousands of audio reviews, many books and AES papers and is perhaps the epitome of what one would think of when envisioning an audio engineer.
One of the tougher parts about Martin is that he is a bit of a skeptic (to say the least). If it isn't something he can measure or explain in engineering terms, then you better be able to prove your results in a controlled and qualified listening setup. He's one tough cookie. If he wasn't British, I'd suspect he was from Missouri (the show me state).
So it was with great surprise and delight when we received this little piece of information from our distributor in the UK:
'We hear on the grapevine that one of the most severe critics of mains improvers and conditioners in the industry, Martin Colloms, writing for the independent audio magazine HIFICRITIC, is getting favorable results with a loaner Power Plant Premier in a high end system. Publication of this project is scheduled for the Nov/Dec issue of this deeply researched UK magazine devoted to stereo audio: WWW.HIFICRITIC.COM'
Will wonders never cease! Color me proud as punch.
